As the end of transition drawers ever closer, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics continues to prepare for the post-Brexit world. However, the situation remains unclear with no details on the new rules, regulations or declarations. We expect further updates this month from the UK Government with version 3 of the Border Operating Model due for release imminently. Ideally, with any final details confirmed once the current negotiations with the EU conclude.
Rest assured, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics’ preparations are well underway, we hope yours are too! The Hellmann F.A.M.I.L.Y. has continued to grow with new teams taking shape across the country. Our Glasgow team are in place finalising training and familiarising themselves with the new processes required for our bespoke solutions location.
Our Lichfield team has now taken shape with our existing senior operators joined by a large number of new team members, all in place and nearing the completion of the government recommended courses to enhance their knowledge and existing skill-set.
Our Lichfield hub is one of our specialist customs locations with all of the required customs authorisations in place. It is anticipated that our Lichfield team will manage our export documentation. By concentrating our export document processes at Lichfield, we can ensure that all of our vehicles are ‘Border Ready’ and compliant with all of the new requirements before they can enter the county of Kent and proceed to the channel ports where necessary with minimal delays at all UK ports of exit.
In Dover, there is room for further expansion with temporary accommodation now in place as we eagerly anticipate the completion of extensive renovations at our new office. This investment allows us to expand our team and recruit for additional roles if required.
Import documentation will be the main focus for the team in Dover, perfectly placed with systems ready to ensure a smooth flow for import vehicles on the southern crossings and with connections to all major UK sea and airports. Our highly experienced team is in place with over 100 years combined experience of customs clearances, processes and procedures.
Whilst we await the final details from the UK Government and for negotiations with our EU partners to conclude, please ensure, like us, you and your teams are fully prepared for the end of the transition period on 31.12.2020. Please follow the government advice on gov.uk and advise your Hellmann contact of your anticipated requirements for 2021 so we can ensure we are all fully prepared, compliant and ready for the changes 2021 will bring.
